AFM Sandton is part of the Greater Apostolic Faith Mission of South Africa, founded in 1902 in Doornfontein, Johannesburg. The Apostolic faith Mission as a church has experienced tremendous growth from its inception, now extending into the five major continents of the world.
Evangelism and Missions are the key drivers of our growth as a church, resulting in the establishment of assemblies in almost every township, village, suburb and city hence the launch of AFM Sandton in February 2013. Since our formation we have grown into a vibrant community of devoted worshippers spreading the gospel in Sandton and beyond.
Ours is a diverse assembly embracing the rainbow nation of South Africa (and particularly Sandton) with all its diversity and opportunities. We believe that a church should mirror the community that it represents and serves and therefore all people are welcome at AFM Sandton irrespective of culture, race, social standing or language. English is our preferred language of communication although we do NOT have any English men in the assembly.
We are a growing, Christ like family embracing all people.
Our Statement of Faith . We believe in God eternal, triune, almighty creator, sustainer and ruler of all creation.
We believe in God the Father, the author of creation and salvation.
We believe in Jesus Christ the only begotten Son of God the Father, true God who for the sake of humanity and its salvation, descended from heaven and became flesh; who was conceived by the Holy Spirit and was born by the virgin Mary; who lived on earth and was crucified, died and was buried, who rose from the dead and ascended to heaven where He is seated at the right hand of the Father.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, true God proceeding from the Father and the Son, who convicts the world of sin, righteousness and judgment and leads in all truth.
We believe that the Bible is the word of God, written by men as the Holy Spirit inspired them. We believe that it authoritatively proclaims the will of God and teaches us all that is necessary for salvation.
We believe that all human beings are created in the image of God and that due to their sinful rebellion, this image is marred, that all have sinned before God and it is the will of God that all people should receive salvation through faith in Jesus Christ.
We believe in the Baptism of the Holy Spirit with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues as promised to all believers. We believe in the manifestation of the gifts and fruit of the Spirit in the life of a Christian. We believe that a Christian should be a disciple of Jesus Christ living a consecrated and holy life.
We believe that Jesus Christ is the Head of the Church, which is constituted by the Holy Spirit and consists of born again believers. The Church is responsible for the proclamation and demonstration of the gospel and God’s will to all people. As a charismatic community they fellowship with and edify one another.
We believe that the believer’s baptism, by immersion and the Lord’s Supper are instituted by Jesus Christ to be observed by the Church.
We believe that at the time appointed by God, Jesus Christ will come to take away his Church.
We believe in a day of judgment when Jesus Christ will judge the living and the dead. We believe in the resurrection of the body and eternal life for the righteous and eternal punishment for the wicked. We believe in the new heaven and the new earth where God will reign in glory.
We believe that all people are created in the image of God and that all are equal before Him. We as a congregation are a non-racial, non-sexist, community.
We minister to the whole person: Spiritually -Sunday services and Wednesday cell groups and Friday youth and intercession. Physically – to the needs of those that do not have. Minister to families – we believe in healthy families, we believe that healthy families create healthy communities.
We believe that every believer must be a faithful financial partner of the local church. And must contribute at least 10% of the persons income to God by supporting the ministry of this local church.
We belief that members must live lives of integrity and honesty in church, at home, in the workplace and the community at large.
We belief that each member must have a life of prayer and Bible study for spiritual growth and empowerment.
We believe that the family as a unit is very important and we encourage strong marriages and family relationships. Through commitment to each other, openness and spending quality time together.
We believe that each ministry in the assembly exist to transform our community with the love of Christ
We believe that the different ministries have different visions that run in full harmony with the local assembly’s vision
We believe that each member has been called to extend the Kingdom of God with their gifts, that each member uses their gifts in the assembly through the different ministries.
